Introduction to a Lens Analysis

Analyzing any piece of writing through a criticism lens, will always provide a unique perspective to the piece. Many do not realize the obvious messages that are hidden in the story until they have read a lens analysis or have completed one themselves. Lens analysis are meant to open us up to new angles and perspectives that we may not have noticed about before. By following a certain group of rules, we are able to analyse a piece of writing through only one particular view. In my lens analysis, I chose to analyze Dr. Seuss' The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Lens analysis do not require anyone to analyze long and sophisticated pieces of writing, such as Harry Potter or The Great Gatsby. As you will be able to see, even this simple children's book can be analyzed critically through one point of view.
